HOW TO DECIDE RECOGNISE THAT THIS IS AN IMPORTANT DECISION & ASK YOURSELF THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS What subjects are available? What subjects interest me? What subjects am I good at? What subjects do I need for further study?

EXAMINATION RELATED TERMS SBA – School Based Assessment: Assignment(s) done in school which account for a percentage of students’ final examination mark. Students who do not submit their SBA will be marked as absent for their final examination in that subject. CXC – Caribbean Examinations Council: Examining body for the CSEC and CAPE examinations CSEC – Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate: Ordinary Level Examination done at the end of students’ Form 5 year CAPE – Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination: Advanced Level Examination done at the end of students’ Lower 6 and Upper 6 years

CHOICE OF SUBJECTS FOR 2013 Students must choose one subject from each line (8 subjects in total) circle the subject of first choice underline the subject of second choice Core subjects are Mathematics, English Language and English Literature The following will be considered in approving the remaining 5 subjects: student choice, lab space, average % in the subject, class size (SBA subjects) etc.

These subjects are: Biology Geography History Social Studies Information Technology POA POB Additional Mathematics Physics Chemistry SBA Projects Labs Paper 1 Multiple choice questions Paper 2 Essay type/ structured questions The SBA contributes 20% to the final exam mark and the written papers contribute 80%

These subjects are: SBA Projects Practicals Practical Examination Hands-on activity done under exam conditions Paper 1 Multiple choice questions/structured paper Paper 2 Essay type/ structured questions Food & Nutrition Clothing & Textiles Physical Education & Sport Visual Arts Music EDPM The SBA contributes approximately 20% to the final exam mark for most of these subjects Visual Arts students do a journal instead of a written examination
