 A literature review is an objective, critical summary of published research literature relevant to a topic under consideration for research. Its purpose is to create familiarity with current thinking and research on a particular topic, and may justify future research into a previously overlooked or understudied area. Word Count: 500 words LITERATURE REVIEW

I.Title o The title develops from the general theme to the specific research focus. o It is properly punctuated. o It correctly reflects the research focus and aim. Abstract: o The Abstract mentions the main theme of the research. o The research question is stated. o It is a clear comprehensive summary of the main ideas. o It does not include any unnecessary details. Introduction: o The introduction starts with a strong hook that captures attention. o It provides enough background information that paves the way for the subsequent argument. o The thesis statement is specific and answers the research question(s). o Proper transitions are made all through. Literature Review: o Sources are grouped according to the research idea they support. o There is a proper introduction to each source. o The main claim of each source is stated. o The main supporting ideas are mentioned. Research Methods: o The different purposes of primary and secondary research methods are explained. o The gaps in the literature that require further researching are mentioned Conclusions: o Each topic sentence correctly reflects the content of the body paragraph. o There are adequate supporting ideas? o Ideas in each paragraph follow a logical sequence/order. o Ideas are supported by relevant evidence. o Evidence or proof is carefully chosen and there’s always an explanation of how it proves your point. o Sources are cited in correct MLA format. o This section includes the required variety of source types. o Proper transition sentences are used. o Every paragraph has a logical closing that ties together all the paragraph’s supporting ideas. Recommendations: o The recommendations address the right stakeholders o They tackle each of the issues raised by the research o Each recommendation is clearly and adequately explained.
