What is media? In art, the medium is the material and technique used by an artist. If an artist uses lots of materials and techniques, they are using different media to create a piece of work. Medium- singular / Media- plural

What is audience? The audience are the people who will be viewing the product or the piece of art work. Artists have to think about who the audience is before they create the products. An audience can see the product on a computer screen or as a document.

Nickelodeon knows that their audience is kids. The bright color gets your attention. It is playful and looks like something from a cartoon.

Fonts are different ways of saying something with different words.

What does this show? The team wants to show it’s strong and fast so it has big letters and sharp edges that seem to make it look like its moving.

Color Background Font You have to think about contrasts when you are picking colors.

What is contrast? A light color against a dark color You have to be able to see the font. It has to be appealing to the eye.

We use the colors red, white, and blue to represent our country.

Color can also create a mood. This one uses bright colors to represent warm weather and summertime.

White Space unused space doesn’t have to be white separates the text and the pictures Sometimes people use too much writing or too many pictures and then the documents looks cluttered or “busy.” White space helps avoid that problem.

Which one is more appealing to the eye?

White space can make things easier to read. Which one is easier to read?
