Reproductive Health Instruction INTRODUCTION 2015/2016

Purpose To reiterate that all living things reproduce. ◦To describe the basic process of human reproduction, using scientific names for reproductive anatomy. To analyze situations where assertive communication and refusal skills can be used in risky situations. To create a plan to stay within behavioral limits. To explain when it is important to get adult, medical, and/or counseling help. To describe sources of accurate information and assistance in the community.

Always Remember Every person thinks about this topic differently ◦Social-cultural influences ◦Society, religion, family, personal values, friends ◦External stimuli ◦Commercials, magazines, other environmental stimuli ◦Internal stimuli ◦Personal thoughts and ideas

Guidelines Yes, it is embarrassing, BUT we need to respect the many perspectives in the classroom, thus: ◦Respect what other’s say; understand other’s feelings ◦No giggles, please (see above) ◦Ask ANY question by raising your hand or using scrap paper ◦Discuss these topics responsibly – especially outside the classroom ◦I’m available if you would like to speak about something privately ◦Speak for yourself…don’t “point” at others ◦Anything else?????
