Sound Principles Of Bible Interpretation Hermeneutics

Context, Context, Context Remember that the context is most important

Consider the historical, grammatical and theological context

Take the words of prophecy in their normal literal, grammatical sense

Recognize the importance of the biblical covenants :

An Example The Abrahamic Covenant is unconditional, eternal, unilateral, literal

When the normal sense makes good sense, seek no other sense.

Be aware of time gaps Example : Dan. 9:24-27; John 5:28,29

Always interpret a seemingly vague passage in light of a clear passage related to it.

An Example On the issue of salvation : Compare Eph. 2:8,9 with Phil. 2:12. It is clear salvation is not based on works!
