Agenda Welcome and Introductions Review Cancellation policy Event Announcement Process (forms sent by Janine) See who has registered Importance of welcoming new members at each meeting Importance of Leader Continuity New Speaker handout (need input) Group Guidelines review (document) Engage Unit Members Expand Unit participation Encourage Unit Members to participate in 45th Anniversary activities PR in FOCUS and NW Annual Conference – May 3-5, 2015 Encourage Unit attendance and registration Invite Unit members to sit at Unit Tables on Monday for Lunch Great Ideas for Programs Adjourn

Cancellation Policy Contact Staff Member (Christina, Janine or Mary Jean) Discuss reasons for cancellation with staff. Low registration may be a reason to cancel. Illness of Unit Leader is not usually a sufficient reason to cancel. Staff or another member can step in as needed. Cancellation by the speaker is not usually a sufficient reason to cancel. Alternative activities can be arranged, or a networking session can take place instead. If at all possible, cancel 24 hours before the event date If decision is to cancel: Unit Leader will entire Unit about cancellation Staff will those members who have registered for the event If possible, Unit Leader will arrange to have a sign put on the door where the event was to be held Staff will put CANCELLED on the Events Calendar (see Web site)

Event Announcement Process (forms) Instructions on Announcing and Hosting an Event Online Announcement Form Event Sign-In Sheet Request for Payment Event Summary Form

Promote Your Unit Event Schedule & Promote Your Event to NASW Members (in this order please): Complete Online Event Announcement Form. The event will be posted on NASW-NJ Calendar; Send an to your Unit Group to announce event; include the Registration Link and ask members to register online; Look at Event on Web site calendar to see who has registered; The Chapter will promote the event in newSWire™; Send out 2 reminder s to your Unit Group: one two weeks before the event and another a few days before event; Promotion should not imply endorsement of a specific person, product, or service by NASW or NASW-NJ.

Leadership Continuity Encourage & nurture consistent attendance Discuss topics of interest to attendees Recognize & mentor potential unit leaders Establish Steering Committee to provide leadership opportunities to others; encourage consideration of leadership position.

Engage Unit Members Expand Unit participation CE programs at Unit Events – Contact Kendra Coordinate and Collaborate with PPSIG in your area Encourage Unit Members to participate in 45 th Anniversary activities PR in FOCUS and NW If you plan your Unit Events in advance, we can publish 6- month schedule (FOCUS) Unit page(s). We need 3 sentences and some pictures (FOCUS and/or NW)
