ABOUT OŚWIĘCIM/AUSCHWITZ -Oświęcim is a town in the Lesser Poland, located 50 km west of Kraków and near the rivers Sola and Vistula. -Oświęcim was established in 1117 and nowadays it has a population of inhabitants in an area of 30.3 km2. -Oświęcim is famous because it has the famous concentration camp of Auschwitz.

HISTORY OF OŚWIĘCIM - Oświęcim was established in 1117 and in 1179 it was joined to Silesia. During the years, in Oświęcim there were German and Polish people living in peace and in 1457 de king Casimir the first of Poland bought Oświęcim. Since there, Oświęcim became the center of the protestans culture in Poland. - The city was destroyed by Sweden in 1655 and later was divided in two kingdoms.
