Direct and Indirect Objects Pay close attention during presentation!

Standard ELACC6L1: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage.

Essential Questions 1. How do I find the direct object of a sentence? 2. How do I find the indirect object of a sentence?

Direct Object Direct objects receive the action of the verb. In order to have a direct object, there must be an “action” verb in the sentence. Direct objects receive the action of the verb. In order to have a direct object, there must be an “action” verb in the sentence. An action verb that has a direct object is a transitive verb. An action verb that has a direct object is a transitive verb. A verb that does not have a direct object is an intransitive verb. A verb that does not have a direct object is an intransitive verb.
