The Florida Public Health Training Center’s Online Mentor Program is designed to foster leadership development; expand public health employees’ and/or students’ knowledge, skills, and abilities; and broaden understanding of the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) and its missions and programs. © Copyright 2013 Florida Public Health Training Center

The program is sponsored by the Florida Public Health Training Center (FPHTC) at the USF College of Public Health and funded by a federal grant awarded to the USF Center for Leadership in Public Health Practice (CLPHP) by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to develop the technical, scientific, managerial, and leadership competencies and capabilities of the current and future public health workforce in Florida and nationally. © Copyright 2013 Florida Public Health Training Center

The program is specifically designed to meet the Core Competency for Public Health Professionals 8A6: "Participates in mentoring and peer review or coaching opportunities." The program also meets one of the 10 Public Health Essential Services: "Assure a competent public health and personal health care workforce."10 Public Health Essential Services © Copyright 2013 Florida Public Health Training Center

The program is specifically designed to: Assure a competent and diverse public health workforce in Florida capable of adapting to the changing workplace environment. Develop the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals. Expand knowledge, skills, and abilities of FDOH employees and USF College of Public Health students in the program. Participants must complete 4 essential parts: PART A: Design a Professional Development Action Plan. PART B: Achieve Twelve (12) Mentor-Mentee Contact Hours over the course of 4 to 12 months. PART C: Complete Three (3) Professional Development Contact Hours (public health core competency-based training courses).
