Proposal to the BoG of the IT Society: IEEE Information Theory Workshop on Networking and Information Theory, June 10-12, 2008 in Volos, Greece

Full technical and financial sponsorship is requested from the IEEE IT Society. The proceedings will be included in IEEE Xplore.

A large, modern, dynamic city In one of the most attractive areas of Greece The city is also famed for its rich cultural life, for its archaeological museum and for the important Neolithic settlements at Dimini and Sesklo. Hosted 2004 Olympic events Will Host XVII Mediterranean Games along with Larisa Large University Near Mount Pilion and Meteora Why Volos, Greece?

Focus on Networks The title, IEEE Information Theory Workshop on Networking and Information Theory, indicates a technical focus on networks, without excluding other areas of information theory. We plan to engage researchers working on fundamentals of networks and related areas, many of whom would not ordinarily attend an information theory conference. Core network areas would include coding in networks, delay-distortion, network security, network algorithms, stability, peer-to-peer systems, cross- layer network optimization, game theory in networks, networks and information theory in biology. The technical focus will reduce competition with ISIT 2009, which will begin in Seoul two weeks and two days after the workshop ends.
