At a dance there are 15 boys and 17 girls. How many altogether? Strategy- Addition = 32

There are 24 people on the bus. 17 more get on. How many people on the bus? Strategy- addition 24+17= 30+11= 41

Lee has 47 Dragonball Z cards. He loses 23 of them. How many does he have left? Strategy- subtraction = 24

Ben has 86 marbles. He gives 42 to Ashton. How many are left? Strategy- subtraction = 44

There are 56 tennis balls in a bag. Mary puts in 17 more. How many balls are in the bag? Strategy- addition = 60+13= 73

There are 72 bottles of Coke in the fridge. Shanice sneaks in and drinks 36. How many were left for Sam? Strategy- subtraction = 36
