Associative Property of Addition The way numbers are grouped when added does not change the sum. (5+2)+3 5+(2+3)
Zero or Identity Property of Addition The sum of any number and 0 is the number. 8+0=8 0+8=8

Word Problem Practice: I have 30 minutes until I have to leave for school. I have to clean my room and fold the clothes before I can leave. It will take me 20 minutes to clean my room and 10 minutes to fold the clothes. Do I have enough time to do both chores before I leave? If so, does it matter what order I do them in?
