LEADERSHIP The Nature and Importance of Leadership AMIR AKBAR – KARDAN UNIVERSITY KABUL

A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way 3

Leadership is the ability to inspire confidence and support among the people who are needed to achieve organizational goals. An act that causes others to act or respond in a shared direction. DEFINITION Leaders provide vision AMIR AKBAR – KARDAN UNIVERSITY KABUL

Leadership involves finding a parade and getting in front of it 5

In partnership leader and group members are connected in such a way that there is a balance of power between them. It occurs when control shifts from leader to group members Long term relationship between group members and leader LEADERSHIP AS PARTNERSHIP AMIR AKBAR – KARDAN UNIVERSITY KABUL

EXCHANGE OF PURPOSE: Every worker at every level is responsible for defining vision and values. A RIGHT TO SAY NO: Any body has right to say “no” on any idea presented. JOINT ACCOUNTABILITY: Each person is responsible for outcomes and results whether success or failure. ABSOLUTE HONESTY: When power is distributed people are more likely to tell the truth. LEADERSHIP AS PARTNERSHIP AMIR AKBAR – KARDAN UNIVERSITY KABUL

LEADERSHIP VERSUS MANAGEMENT Managers are people who do things right Leaders are people who do right things AMIR AKBAR – KARDAN UNIVERSITY KABUL

Management is more formal and scientific than leadership. Management is set of tools and techniques of planning, budgeting and controlling. Leader is inspirational figure. LEADERSHIP VERSUS MANAGEMENT Managers are people who do things right Leaders are people who do right things AMIR AKBAR – KARDAN UNIVERSITY KABUL
