© ENS Inc, an INGENIX company. 2 Introduction  What are ERAs and EOBs?  An explanation of benefits (EOB) is a document that shows the details of the insured’s doctor visit along with covered amounts, dates of service, etc.  An electronic remittance advice (ERA) is the electronic version of the EOB.  This lesson will show you how to:  Find the ENS home page  Login to the medical claims center  Access and view ERA files  View check summaries  Download ERA Files  View an EOB image  Search for ERAs by date, check number, or patient  View ERA file name  Read the instructions in the red highlighted boxes in this lesson  Questions or problems can be reported to Technical Support at:   Phone: (866)

© ENS Inc, an INGENIX company. 3 Let’s Get Started From a web browser, locate the ENS home page at: Helpful hint: Once you are at the ENS home page, save it as a favorite for future use. Click on client access.

© ENS Inc, an INGENIX company. 4 Logging In Enter your user ID, password, and organization ID in the appropriate fields.

© ENS Inc, an INGENIX company. 6 View New ERA Files After you select the electronic remittance advice tab, you will see the ERA main page which will display all new (unread) ERA files. If you have navigated to other sections of the ERA pages, you can return to this screen by clicking the new ERAs tab.

© ENS Inc, an INGENIX company. 7 View Check Summary View check summary one of two ways: Click on check number or view summary. When you click on the check number to view a summary of the check, detailed check information will display on the bottom section of the page.

© ENS Inc, an INGENIX company. 8 View Check Summary To view a summary of the check, click on view summary. This will generate a pop-up window (browser) on your screen that will display payment summary information for the check you have selected. Print the summary by clicking on the print button.

© ENS Inc, an INGENIX company. 9 Download ERA Files: Singles or Groups To download an ERA file or zip and download one or more files, click on the download ERA link for the file(s) you want to download. You will be prompted to select either open or save. Click save to save your ERA file to your computer.

© ENS Inc, an INGENIX company. 10 Download ERA Files, continued You will be prompted again to select the location where you want to save the file. Select the location and click save. To zip and download all new ERA files, check the first box of the heading row. It will automatically check all of the new ERA files. To download only selected files, check the box of every row you want to download.

© ENS Inc, an INGENIX company. 11 Download ERA Files, continued Once you select the files that you want to download, click zip and download. You will be prompted to download a zipped file, click save.

© ENS Inc, an INGENIX company. 12 Download ERA Files, continued You will be prompted again to select the location where you want the file to be saved. Select the location and click save.

© ENS Inc, an INGENIX company. 13 View Electronic EOB Image of the ERA Adobe® Acrobat Reader® is required to view and print EOB files. You can download Adobe Acrobat Reader for free at htt://.adobe.com/acrobat/readstep2.html. To view the EOB file, click view EOB. This will generate a pop-up window on your screen that displays the EOB image.

© ENS Inc, an INGENIX company. 14 Search Options There are three main search tabs. 1. Date Search: Enter a from and to date span, or pre-defined search of 30, 60, or 90 days. This will return all checks within the specified timeframe. 2. Check Number Search: Enter a partial or the entire check number to search for. 3. Patient Search: Enter patient data to search for a check. This search option requires that a date range and at least one of the other elements (last name, first name, or account number) is included.

© ENS Inc, an INGENIX company. 15 Viewing the ERA File Name View an ERA file name that you want to download by rolling your cursor over the download ERA link of that file. The ERA file name will be shown on the bottom of the browser. The ERA file name format is: Payer ID + Date + Tax ID + Internal Sequence #.
