HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL CONTROL NETWORK Expedite The Flow of Geodata….  Establish horizontal and vertical positions on newly established benchmarks throughout the City of Pismo Beach.  Provide benchmark information via hard copy and as a GIS layer.  Incorporate new Geodata into the City of Pismo Beach's GIS.

HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL CONTROL NETWORKS Past GPS Surveys – Santa Maria Valley GPS Network  4 Survey Crews  4 GPS Receivers  Communications between Crews and Setup - CRITICAL  1 ½ hour GPS Static Sessions  Mission Planning for GPS observations  Nightime Operations  Static Session on Known HPGN Control Monuments  ½ Million Dollar Investment

Defendable, Accessible, Reliable - DAR Utilize new technological advances for measuring the surface of the earth, (Science of Geomatics), along with traditional Land Surveying and GIS Mapping practices in order to provide Efficient, Reliable, and Cost Effective data to the City of Pismo Beach. ph:

Horizontal Datum  Horizontal accuracies to comply with California Public Resources Code 8856 having a positional accuracy of two centimeters or better.  GPS static measurements to the California Continuous Operating Reference Stations (CORS). Geodetic coordinates for CORS stations USLO, P516, and P513 used as the basis for this survey.  Benchmarks and GIS mapping referenced to the California Coordinate System 1983, CCS83, (epoch 2011), Zone 5.

Vertical Datum  Vertical accuracies to comply with California Public Resources Code 8858 having a positional accuracy of five centimeters or better.  Benchmark "Beach 1974“ elevation held for this survey, having a published elevation of ' feet.  Benchmarks and GIS mapping referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) through ties to established local benchmarks within the City of Pismo Beach. GIS Data  GIS Layer containing the newly established benchmark locations incorporated into a geodatabase along with attributes with spatial links to field notes and digital imagery for each point.

Primary Control  Primary benchmarks observed for 30 minutes and post-processed using Trimble Business Center software version 2.5 along with CORS stations USLO, P516, and P513.  Least Squares adjustment processed using Trimble Business Center software version 2.5 Residuals printed and included in the surveyor's report.  45 Primary Control Points Set

Secondary Control  NGS Field Guidelines for RTK/RTN GPS measurements followed. SRealTimeUserGuidelines.v2.0.4.pdf SRealTimeUserGuidelines.v2.0.4.pdf  Secondary benchmarks observed for (two) 3 minutes occupations and post- processed using an Excel spreadsheet designed to compare points and average after verifying positional and vertical tolerances.  +/- 150 Secondary Points to be set.
