 A carbon footprint is the measure of the impacts our activities have on the environment.

 The primary footprint is a measure of our direct emissions of CO2 from the burning of fossil fuels including domestic energy consumption and transportation (e.g. car and plane).  The secondary footprint is a measure of the indirect CO2 emissions. For example, if I order a product from California and live on the east coast it must be shipped by plane and by truck which increases the amount of CO2 burning.

 Primary Footprint:  Do not let your car idle  Turn off TV’s and other electronics when not in use  Carpool to school and work  Do weekly shopping in a single trip  Secondary Footprint  Do not buy bottled water if tap water is safe to drink  Buy foods that are in season locally  Buy organic produce  Try to buy products made close to home
