The first Chamber of Commerce was most likely started during the late Middle Ages. It was founded in 1599 in Continental Europe The world’s oldest English-speaking Chamber of Commerce is that of New-York city which was established in 1768 The oldest known Chamber of Commerce existing with continuous records is the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce which was founded in 1783 In India, Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry is said to be the oldest; 156 year old institution.

MCCIA’s Lean Manufacturing Cluster MCCIA has formed two Lean Manufacturing Cluster under the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Program of Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India. The first cluster, consisting of 10 small scale auto component manufacturing units from PCMC area, started its operations in April 2010.

Enjoying benefits productivity improvement reduction in set up time, disposal of scrap, creation of additional shop floor space, better material movement improved material management, increase in inventory turnover ratio, systematic data collection and analysis, preventive machine maintenance, high employee morale, improved working conditions for workers and so on.

Other Lean aspects like production planning,, Kaizen, Poka Yoke, Quality Issues, Problem Solving Techniques etc. being implemented Thus, the companies are moving towards manufacturing excellence and thereby becoming more and more competitive
