8 Aspects Rubric In small groups, Review evaluation criteria on p. 8 to identify key phrases stated in each bullet. Review p. 4 of Understanding the Renewal Decision to identify the 8 evaluation aspects. Discuss and clarify the meaning of the key expectations outlined in the 8 Aspects Tool. 15 Minutes Use each bullet as a separate activity Introduce the 8 Aspects of the rubric by asking NBCTs to read and discuss the key concepts and phrases in the bulleted items on page 8 of the PPG. Point out that each phrase is “loaded” with important items for NBCTs to examine about their continued professional growth. After the small group discussion, debrief to clarify the meaning of the bulleted items. Ask participants to read and discuss p. 4 of the Understanding Renewal Decision handout. Explain that is an example of a report to a Renewal candidate who did receive the designation of “Renewed”. On the left are the 8 aspects and on the right are the statements of evidence seen and not seen. 3. Introduce the handout 8 Aspects Tool and share that the sheet could be used for a variety of purposes as an NBCT moves toward showing evidence of each aspect as they compete the PPG– Exploring what to select by identifying what you have done or will do. Analyzing the video or student learning documentation Revising the written commentary Ask NBCTs to work independently to begin to identify how they could show evidence in what they have done or will do.
