Jesus Christ Was Exalted For Me Confirmed in the Faith Series B Lesson 6

Jesus Christ Was Exalted For Me Exaltation = being lifted up, referring to what happened to Jesus AFTER His death

The Five Steps of Jesus’ Exaltation Will come as judge God’s right hand Ascended Rose Descended

1 Peter 3:18-19 18 Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, 19through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison.

Jesus Descended Into Hell When? After He died and became alive again.

Colossians 2:15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Jesus Descended Into Hell Why? To announce His victory over the devil.

The Resurrection of Our Lord Read Matthew 28:1-10 in your Bible.

Romans 1:4 …who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus Rose From the Dead This means: 1. He is true God.

1 Corinthians 15:16-17 16For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.

Jesus Rose From the Dead This means: 1. He is true God. 2. He really has defeated sin and death.

John 14:19 “Because I live, you also will live.”

Jesus Rose From the Dead This means: 1. He is true God. 2. He really has defeated sin and death. 3. He will raise me and all the dead.

The Ascension of Our Lord Read Acts 1:1-11 in your Bible.

John 14:2-3 2“In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

Jesus Visibly Ascended into Heaven He assures me of a prepared heavenly home.

1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 17After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18Therefore encourage each other with these words.

Jesus Visibly Ascended into Heaven He assures me of a prepared heavenly home. We will live with Him there forever.

1 John 2:1-2 1My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

Jesus Sits at God’s Right Hand As my High Priest, Jesus intercedes for me.

Matthew 28:19-20 19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Jesus Sits at God’s Right Hand As my High Priest, Jesus intercedes for me. As my Prophet, Jesus guides me with His Word.

Matthew 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”

Ephesians 1:20-23 20…which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Jesus Sits at God’s Right Hand As my High Priest, Jesus intercedes for me. As my Prophet, Jesus guides me with His Word. As my King, Jesus rules over all things and me.

Acts 1:11 "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."

Acts 10:39-43 39"We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree, 40but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. 41He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen—by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead…

Acts 10:39-43 42…He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. 43All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."

Jesus Will Come Again Jesus will come as Judge of the living and the dead.

Matthew 24:36 "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.

Jesus Will Come Again Jesus will come as Judge of the living and the dead. No one knows when Jesus will come.

2 Peter 3:10-14 10But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare…

2 Peter 3:10-14 11…Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness…

2 Peter 3:10-14 14…So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.

Jesus Will Come Again Jesus will come as Judge of the living and the dead. No one knows when Jesus will come. We should be ready for His coming.

Acts 16:25-34 25About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose. 27The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. 28But Paul shouted, "Don't harm yourself! We are all here!”…

Acts 16:25-34 29…The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" 31They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household…”

Acts 16:25-34 32…Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his family were baptized. 34The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole family.

Jesus Will Come Again Jesus will come as Judge of the living and the dead. No one knows when Jesus will come. We should be ready for His coming. We are ready when we trust in Jesus as our personal Savior.

Titus 2:13-14 13We wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

Jesus Will Come Again Jesus will come as Judge of the living and the dead. No one knows when Jesus will come. We should be ready for His coming. We are ready when we trust in Jesus as or personal Savior. Until Jesus comes again, we will gladly serve and obey Him.

2 Timothy 4:18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen. The exaltation of Jesus makes me sure that His work for me was successful!
