CSTA K–12 Computer Science Standards Revised 2011

Computer Science as a Core Discipline Computer Science is Intellectually Important Computer Science Leads to Multiple Career Paths Computer Science Teaches Problem Solving Computer Science Supports and Links to Other Sciences Computer Science Can Engage All Students

Goals of any CS class should be introduce the fundamental concepts of computer science to all students, beginning at the elementary school level, present computer science at the secondary school level in a way that would be both accessible and worthy of an academic curriculum credit (e.g., math or science), offer additional secondary-level computer science courses that will allow interested students to study it in depth and prepare them for entry into the work force or college, and increase the knowledge of computer science for all students, especially those who are members of historically underrepresented groups in computer science.
