What is a competency ? A competency is a combination of knowledge, Skills and Attitudes, demonstrated in the performance of a job by an individual.

THE INDIVIDUAL DEVELOMENT PLANNING PROCESS. [IDP System] 1. Find the Required Level of Competency for the Job. 2. Find the Personal Competency of the Individual. 3. Find the gap which is the development need.

What are the components of the IDP System ? The individual Development Plan [IDP] is supported by the Competency Based Human Resources Management.

Step-1 Agree on the Core Job-Competencies for the Division/Dept or Unit. [By a panel of Senior Officers] Step-2 Agree on Technical competencies for Each -job.[By Superior & Subordinate] Step-3 Self-assessment of the Personal Competency level. [ By Subordinate]

S tep-4 Superior’s assessment of the Personal Competency Level of the officer & mutual agreement. Step-5 Finding the Gaps [Needs] and deciding the priority order. S tep-6 Preparing the Individual Development Plan [IDP] Finding Local and Overseas Sources to fill the gap. S tep-7 Preparing the DIVISION/UNIT annual Training Plan by summarizing IDPs.
