SECTOR DE LA INDUSTRIA AUTOMOTRIZ IING. SALVADOR SAAVEDRA C. 27 DE JULIO 2011 Allowable GVW per vehicle configuration and type of road

SECTOR DE LA INDUSTRIA AUTOMOTRIZ IING. SALVADOR SAAVEDRA C. 27 DE JULIO 2011 Specifications for trailers needed to qualify for additional weight: Air ride suspension. ABS Dual chamber air brake actuators. Safety chain on dollies Current verification on mechanical conditions. All vehicles in a combination must meet the additional specifications. Requirements to qualify for additional weight

SECTOR DE LA INDUSTRIA AUTOMOTRIZ IING. SALVADOR SAAVEDRA C. 27 DE JULIO 2011 Specifications for truck trailers needed to qualify for additional weight: Air ride suspension. ABS Minimum HP and torque. Minimum drive axle capacity Current emmisions verification Current verification on mechanical conditions. All vehicles in a combination must meet the additional specifications. Requirements to qualify for additional weight

SECTOR DE LA INDUSTRIA AUTOMOTRIZ IING. SALVADOR SAAVEDRA C. 27 DE JULIO 2011 NOM-035-SCT Safety Requirements for Trailers NOM-035 is the first Vehicle Safety Standard in Mexico. The published NOM considered the following during its development: Include the safety standards in effect in Canada and the USA Include the structural requirements for the trailers to transit with the maximum allowed weights by the NOM012, without limiting lighter vehicles. Include technical information requirements for manufacturers and importers.

SECTOR DE LA INDUSTRIA AUTOMOTRIZ IING. SALVADOR SAAVEDRA C. 27 DE JULIO Minimum Safety Factor: Ratio between the yield strength of the material and maximum stresses in the material when the vehicle is loaded at its GVWR. Safety factor = Yield strengrh / Design stress

SECTOR DE LA INDUSTRIA AUTOMOTRIZ IING. SALVADOR SAAVEDRA C. 27 DE JULIO – Coupling Plate (coupling plate, front chassis, front coupler, upper fifth wheel) and king pin. The coupling plate should be designed to support a vertical load of 47% of GVWR with a minimum safety factor of 3.5. Towing capacity should be at least double the GVWR with the same security factor, conforming to the procedure described in below.
