But the people of Israel were fruitful and increased greatly; they multiplied and grew exceedingly strong, so that the land was filled with them. Pharaoh Oppresses Israel. Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph.” - Exodus 1:6-8

Exodus 3- 4 Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I am has sent me to you.’” God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ – Exodus 3:13-15

Exodus 5-11 “I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless compelled by a mighty hand. So I will stretch out my hand and strike Egypt with all the wonders that I will do in it; after that he will let you go.” Ex 3:19-20

Ten Plaques “But the Lord said to Moses, ‘Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh; for with a strong hand he will send them out, and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land…I will bring you into the land that I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. I will give it to you for a possession. I am the LORD.” Ex 6:1;8  “…Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the LORD had said.” Ex. 7:13  First Plague: Water to Blood - “…Pharaoh’s heart remained hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the LORD had said.” 7:22  Second Plague : Frogs  “ But when Pharaoh saw that there was a respite, he hardened his heart and would not listen to them, as the LORD had said.” 8:15

You are still exalting yourself against my people and will not let them go.” Ex 9:16-17  Sixth Plague: Boils - “But the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not listen to them, as the Lord had spoken to Moses” 9:12 - ******  Seventh Plague : Hail  “ So the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people of Israel go, just as the LORD had spoken through Moses.” 9:35  Eighth Plague : Locust  “ But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the people of Israel go.” 10:20  Ninth Plague : Darkness  “ But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the people of Israel.” 10:27

Exodus 12: The Passover Particular Substitution* : The substitution of a lamb for a specific person identifying themselves as the people of God. vs. 3-4 Judgment & Salvation*: Judgment is poured out on unbelieving Egypt & the lamb. Salvation is granted to those who cover their doorposts with the blood of the lamb. vs Remember* : This act of grace shall be an eternal memorial of remembrance and instruction. vs. 14 “The blood [of the Lamb] shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.” Ex 12:13 *ESV Gospel Transformation Bible

Suffering Servant Isaiah 53 “…Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth...”

The “Lamb of God” The next day [John the Baptist] saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! – John 1:29 “Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.” – 1 Cor 5:7 The substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ took the wrath of God for those who deserved God’s complete judgment.

The “Lamb of God” “And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet.” Hebrews 10:10-13

Luke 22:14-20 And when the hour came, he reclined at table, and the apostles with him. And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves. For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.
