Vocabulary – Pronouns These are the vocabulary words for this lesson. Read through carefully and print out if possible. Don't be overwhelmed. The information will be repeated throughout the module, and there will be practice exercises.

Vocabulary - Pronouns pronoun - a word that takes the place of a noun such as he, she, they, them. gender - masculine or feminine - applies to singular nouns. The word woman or a name of a female is feminine. The word man or the name of a man is masculine. When the gender of a noun cannot be determined, it is considered neutral. number - singular or plural; one or more than one. person - first (I, we, my, ours, me, us), second (you, your), third (he, she, it, they, them, their, theirs).

Vocabulary - Pronouns antecedent - Latin for that which comes before, refers to the noun to which the pronoun is referring pronoun-antecedent agreement - the requirement that the pronoun agree in gender, number, and person with the noun to which it refers pronoun reference - the idea that pronouns must clearly refer to a specific noun.
