Test Review “Monster”

Diary Vs. Screenplay How is the diary different from the screenplay? Compare how they look, how they tell the story, and how they make you feel.

Steve’s diary Think about what would have happened if other characters had access to Steve’s diary

analogy Be able to explain the analogy Steve makes between the viewers of a film and the jury of a court trial (beginning on page 18)

mood Be able to define Mood. Know the mood in prison and how it makes Steve feel What words and images does Walter Dean Myers use to help you infer the mood?

The trial On pages 53-98 we see what happens when the trial continues. Be able to discuss these events and Steve’s reactions to these events in his journal.

The robbery On pages 99-149, we get a better idea of what happened on the day of the robbery. Know what Steve, King and Bobo reveal about the robbery and what this shows about Steve’s involvement.

Guilt Do you think Steve is guilty? Be able to support your answer with textual evidence
