 John F. Kennedy was in a parade in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963 when he was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald who was shooting from a window in the Texas School Book Depository. JFK was shot in the head and neck and the governor was shot in the chest.  When Oswald was being transferred to the county jail he was shot point blank range with a pistol by Jack Ruby. All of this happened on national TV.  Jack Ruby later died in jail from terminal cancer.

 There are many different conspiracies on who killed JFK, why he was killed, and how many gunman there really were. Here I will list some of the most popular ones and why so many people believe them.

 Some think that Lyndon B. Johnson was a big part if not the leader of the group that had JFK killed. In a 2003 Gallup poll, 20% of Americans believed that Johnson played some part in the assassination. His possible motives for the killing include: Wanting to become President, a cover-up for scandals, and also his involvement with the FBI. People believe that rich tycoons paid for the hit because they would make more money with Johnson’s policies. New released tapes give evidence that Jackie Onassis (Kennedy’s widow) also believed that Johnson had something to do with her husband’s death.

 Another theory is that the CIA bumped him off because he was getting to close to their work. There are two crucial pieces of evidence in this theory. First is a letter from JFK to the CIA requesting to see secret UFO files. Then second is a note from the CIA director saying, “As you must know, President Kennedy has made some inquiries regarding our activities, which we cannot allow.”

 It is believed that the Mafia may have played a role in JFK’s death. The Mafia had worked with the CIA in an attempt to assassinate Fidel Castro. Also Jack Ruby was known to be associated with the mob at the time. The Mafia was also mad at JFK’s brother Bobby Kennedy who at the time was fighting hard against organized crime.

 Another theory is that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone and shot the president for his beliefs or he disagreed with what the President was doing with the country. Unfortunately we don’t know for sure because Jack Ruby killed him before he could be further questioned.

 I think that the government had something to do with the killings, whether it was Lyndon B. Johnson, the CIA, or some other group I believe the government either carried it out themselves or hired someone else to kill JFK.
