INTRODUCTION Trident Seafoods Dreyers Ice cream Dominos Distribution Crown Distributing Maletis Beverage Tiger Mountain Beverage Unisea (Mrs. Fridays Fish) Boeing Company Paccar Corp. Office Depot Dist. A Few of Our Clients Include: Pacific Energy Solutions and our partnered manufacturer have teamed up to produce a proprietary line of fixtures, to meet the special needs of the food and cold storage industry. This partnership brings an innovative approach to Low maintenance and energy efficient lighting for your entire facility.

Warehouses & Dry Goods Replaced 400-watt Metal Halides with Arcticlite T5 = 50% Energy Reduction

Refrigerated Areas BeforeAfter 234-watt Arcticlite T5 With MOTION SENSORS 60% plus Energy Savings 400-watt (460 Total watts) Metal Halide

Freezers to –20 F Before 400-watt (460-total watts) High Pressure Sodium After 234-watt Arcticlite T5 with MOTION SENSORS 65% Energy Savings

Old Technology High Pressure Sodium Mercury Vapor Metal Halide T-12 High Output and VHO

HID Light fixtures Very low visibility. Poor color rendering (CRI) Lower lumens per watt. Human eye is less perceptive to these lumens. Depth perception is affected. Re-strike time of minutes. High operating temperatures.

HID continued Lumens drop off very quickly. As high as 60% Depreciation at end of life. Non-Passive failure is a safety concern. Colors change (shift) over time.

T-12 HO and VHO Older technology. Harder to design a fixture to provide directional light. Lumen depreciation is a problem. More watts than are necessary. Repeated on-off cycles shortens lamp life. Magnetic ballast being discontinued.

T-5 Better Light Distribution. Longer lamp life ( 35,000 hours). Instant Re-strike. Controllable with motion sensors. T-5 has better maintained lumens. Typically 50%+ in energy savings.

Why T-5’s Work T-5 lamps have a 5/8” cross section. This makes it possible to use parabolic reflectors for better optics to “put the light to work”. Higher CRI of 85 increases the perceived visual brightness. Scotopically and Photopically superior light source. Are not a point source – glare is reduced. There are less shadows because of the number of lamps contributing light to each point.

T5 Arcticlite Designed for refrigeration to –20 f Aluminum Body and reflector construction Fixture is Vapor-Tight Three levels of insulation Tested By both Philips Lamps and Advance Ballast for component performance and reliability. Arcticlite is the only fluorescent freezer fixture available with a lamp warranty to –20f

Pupil Lumens

Why Measured Lumens Mislead. Light meters are calibrated to detect raw lumens. The human eye cannot use many of these lumens. High CRI and scotopic light sources are easier on the eye and reduce the strain of accommodation or holding the eye focused. It has been shown that the eye doesn’t react to just raw lumens alone, but to the spectrum of light interacting with the cones in the retina. Even with less lumens, enhanced light is perceived as brighter by the human eye.

Lamp Lumen Maintenance T5 Fluorescent = minimal depreciation Rated Lamp Life = 35,000 hours T-5’S MAINTAIN 93% OF LUMENS HID's have significant lumen depreciation, which will require premature lamp replacement to maintain original light levels. For a Standard Metal Halide (12,000 – 20,000 hrs. rated life) 80% OF INTIAL LUMENS AT 40% OF RATED LAMP LIFE AND 40% - 60% OF INITIAL LUMENS AT END OF LAMP LIFE

Lumen Depreciation

Lamp Life Comparison

CONTROLS HID AND MAGNETIC BALLASTS Very limited because of warm-up and re-strike times. For example: HID hi-bays in most facilities are left on all day even in un-occupied areas as they take too long to turn on. High/Low controls systems can save some energy, however it is not linear between wattage and light output. 50% OF LIGHT LEVELS CONSUMES ABOUT 65% OF MAX WATTAGE

CONTROLS – T5 Fluorescent Because of instant “ON” motion sensors can be used to reduce burn times in often vacant areas. In warehouses, burn times can potentially be reduced 30%- 60% reducing maintenance cost. Motion sensors are used on each individual fixture providing light only in occupied areas. Daylight sensors (photocells) can be used where daylight from skylights or windows are present. T-5 program start ballast allow up-to 50,000 starts.

Anheuser-Busch Distribution Facility (refrigeration)

Anheuser-Busch Distribution Facility Existing fixtures consisted of 400-watt Metal Halide Hibay’s. Rack aisles, Keg storage, Loading docks. and Maintenance area. Replaced with Arcticlite (4-lamp) Vapor-tight F54T5HOs, wattage was reduced from 460-watts per fixture to 234-watts. per fixture. Motion sensors were used on each fixture and set for a ten minute on time Total energy reduced by over 60%.

Project Analysis TOTAL FIXTURES REPLACED = 96 PROJECT COST BEFORE FUNDING = $38,874 LOCAL UTILITY FUNDING AMOUNT = $20,482 BALANCE AFTER FUNDING = $18,392 ANNUAL ELECTRICAL SAVINGS = $11,378 SAVINGS PERCENTAGE = 63% SIMPLE RETURN = 1.62 YEARS

Dryers Ice Cream

Dreyers Ice Cream Kent, WA Existing fixtures consisted of 400-watt metal halides Replaced with Arcticlite T5HO fixtures

Dreyers Project Analysis TOTAL FIXTURES = 112 PROJECT COST BEFORE FUNDING = $48,593 UTILITY FUNDING = $24,476 BALANCE AFTER FUNDING = $24,476 ANNUAL ELECTRICAL SAVINGS = $18,886 SAVINGS PERCENTAGE = 65% SIMPLE RETURN = 1.45 YEARS

Additional Savings Due to Reduced Cooling load HID type fixtures operate at very high temperatures. Typical bulb wall temps can reach degrees Fahrenheit. T5 lamps operate at degrees. Lower operating temperature means less heat introduced into your coolers. This can account for an additional 12-19% savings beyond the reduced lighting load.

Warranty Philips T5 HO Lamp Warranty = 36-months Our Arcticlite refrigeration fixtures are the only fixtures to date that have Tested by Philips in there environmental chambers and have received a proprietary warranty for refrigeration applications to –20 f. Advance T5 HO Ballast Warranty = 5-years Pacific Energy Solutions has arranged with the Advance Transformer Company ( a division of Philips) for the full 5-year ballast warranty Fixture warranty = 2-years
