Mission Statement As Master Technology Teachers, we are facilitators, mentors, and guides in the effective use of Technology so that it can be integrated into the curriculum and gear classroom instruction to be student-centered, which allows our 21st Century learners to compete in our global society.

“21st –century skills must be an integral part of teaching and learning of all academic subjects, not add-ons to the curriculum.”

21st Century Skills Needed Reading comprehension Computer and technology skills Problem-solving, critical thinking Teamwork Ethics and social responsibility Lifelong learner Information, media literacy and communication skills

Effective ways of using Technology Students creating projects Students using multimedia to problem solve Students engaged Incorporate multimedia Technology into everyday activities Student-centered activities

Technology Available on Campus Two computer labs One Science lab Smart boards and projectors in every classroom Each teacher has an Elmo 4 computer terminals in every classroom Each teacher has personal computer connected to projector Internet connections in every classroom

Faculty’s Ineffective Use of Technology Teachers use the smart board like a chalk board. Teachers stand up and give instruction while students sit and listen Elmo is used just like a overhead projector Teacher computer is just used for taking attendance and imputing grades. 4 student computers are not being utilize.

Faculty’s Effective use of Technology Teachers have students interact with the technology tools available. Teachers guide students on doing research on the internet. Teachers have students use smart board for interactive lessons. Teachers use the 4 computers in classroom as a center. Teachers stream video.

Students Use of Technology Students create projects for U.I.L competition using computers Students use Scantek science lab Students use the internet to do research Students AR test library books Students are allotted time to use computer labs

Computer Programs available Study Island Web Achiever and mechanics Scantek Science program SRA TECH Symphony Math Lexia Microsoft Office 2007

Problems with Technology available The new terminal system does not work properly. The computer and science labs are shut down when Taks testing is around the corner. Teachers are not properly trained in how to use the Technology available. Teachers do not want to use the technology available to them. Access to websites is limited.

What needs to be done? Teachers need to start integrating technology in their lesson. Students need to be ready for the 21st century workforce. Teachers need more Technology training.
