What Kind? (Descriptive) Adjectives answer the questions: How Many? (Limiting) What Kind? (Descriptive) Example: There are two clowns for the entertainment. (How many clowns?) Where are the purple balloons for the party? (What kind of balloons?)

Limiting Adjectives limit or restrict the noun or pronoun being described. Cardinal Numerals Limiting Adjectives Ordinal Articles Determiners Demonstratives

NUMERALS Cardinal adjectives- give numerical quantity to a noun Examples: 50 years, ten days Ordinal adjectives- indicate the order or position of a noun in a series Examples: sixth month, the first rule

Points to Remember in Using Descriptive Adjectives Descriptive adjectives are usually placed before the nouns they describe. Examples: 1. The lost sheep was found by the worried shepherd after a few days. 2. The terrified child sought the assurance of her loving mother.

Points to Remember in Using Descriptive Adjectives B. Some adjectives are placed after be- verbs (is, are, was, were, etc.) Examples: 1. She was merry and lively the whole day. 2. They were upset with the result of the game.

Adjectives must be used in order for us to send clear information to our readers or listeners. Refrain from using vague adjectives such as nice and okay. These words are bothersome since they just bring unclear description.

What adjectives may best complete the sentences to send a clear message? The (stormy, fine, sunny) weather stopped me from attending classes today. The (new, lax, honest) employee was recognized by the company for returning a lost package.

On your Own: In your notebook # 3, write the adjective that would best complete each sentence. It was a/an (special, ordinary) birthday celebration for her when (second, two) close friends surprised her. The (close, fresh) friends enjoyed walking around the park for (few, much) hours. At the end of the day, the friends had (great, peaceful) day.

How can we rephrase this sentence so we can convey a clearer message? Read the sentences below. The weather was okay. It was nice to stroll and see the beautiful scenery. How can we rephrase this sentence so we can convey a clearer message?
