Feedback from Schools It’s an important topic to deal with in schools’ ‘We had a school assembly to discuss it’ ‘Students responded positively’ ‘Most students didn’t previously know what LGBT stood for’ ‘I highly recommend the Awareness Week’ ‘DVD very effective in generating discussion’’ Send out a lot more posters! ‘I’m 17 and we’re not just going to take part in Stand Up, we’re going to make our school LGBT friendly for future generations of students to feel safe’ "Their most recent campaign – Stand Up! provides what will be an annual focus for promoting positive awareness of LGBT young people, tackling homophobia and homophobic bullying, and building allies among young people and youth workers. The Education Packs and other promotional material developed for the campaign are very impressive and I know that they have been well received in schools. Again, the endorsement by the NAPD of the campaign is an example of how important a partnership approach in education can be. “ – Ruraí Quinn TD Minister for Education & Skills
