The device configuration file configId element must match this GUID for the wizard to validate the device was successfully configured. configAuthorId: GUID for the author of the instance of the schema configAuthor: Name of author of the instance of the schema ssid: The wireless beacon connectionType: {ESS, IBSS} – ad hoc or infrastructure mode (default ESS) authenticateType: {open, shared, WPA, WPAPSK, WPA-NONE, WPA2, WPA2PSK} The authentication type for the wireless network (default Open)

WCN Flash Config Device Configuration File Each device provisioned using WCN Flash Config writes a configuration file back to the Flash Drive File name is derived from MAC Address MAC Address = C-C8 Filename = 23582CC8.WFC File is written to the Flash Drive in /SMRTNTKY/DEVICE folder configId must match configId from WSETTING.WFC file Include optional deviceType element The Network Setup Wizard supports a sub-set of the elements in the device schema

WCN Flash Config Device Schema This subset of elements will be used by the Wireless Network Setup wizard configID: GUID generated by the Wizard. Referenced in all configuration files Manufacturer: Manufacturer name modelName: The model name of the device serialNumber: The serial number of the device deviceType: Device type (enumeration value) configError: If the device was unable to configure itself (up to 256 bytes)

Device Hardware Requirements Easily accessible USB host port Support standard UFDs Support for USB Mass Storage Subclass 0x6 Support for USB Interface Protocol 0x50 Support Flash Drives with USB Mass Storage INQUIRY RMB Bit value of 0x1 or 0x0 Support Flash Drives with raw capacity between 200k and 10gig Support Flash Drives with FAT 12/16/32 format Support Flash Drives with or without Master Boot Record Present Source up to 200mA on USB Host port Support UFDs with multiple partitions. The WCN-Config device should scan each partition of the UFDs looking for the WCN-Config configuration files

WCN Flash Config Device Firmware/Software Requirements Understand and parse the XML configuration files stored on the Flash Drive Ability to write XML back to the device in case of success

WCN Flash Config Compliance Icon Icon is available for WCN Flash Config General Usage Guidelines The icon may be used in marketing and collateral (such as packaging, sales sheets) to indicate when a device is Windows Connect Now compliant. The icon may also be used on a device as a silk-screened element to indicate that the device supports the technology. When using the icon in marketing, do not align or "lock up" the feature name or any other term with the icon. The icon may be used in a headline, header of feature chart as long as it is clear to the user that the icon is associated with Windows Connect Now technology. The icon must always appear at least.5 inches in diameter when used in marketing materials. Maximum size should be relative to other elements based on the execution.
