Employment Equity And The York Self-Identification Survey

What is Employment Equity? It is an ongoing planning process used by an employer to: Identify and eliminate barriers in employment procedures and policies. Put into place positive policies and practices to eliminate systemic barriers. Ensure appropriate representation of four “designated group” members (women, Aboriginal peoples, visible minorities, and persons with disabilities) throughout all occupations and at all levels within the organization. Foster a climate of equity and attract talent to the organization. York University is committed to Employment Equity

What Is The Federal Contractors Program (FCP)? York University is a participant in the Federal Contractors Program (FCP) and benefits from federal contracts and grants Our commitment to Employment Equity enables the University to participate in the Federal Contractors Programs (FCP), which applies to provincially regulated employers with 100 or more employees, and who receive federal government goods or services contracts of $200,000 or more. The FCP program requires us to collect information about the representation of the four designated groups in our workforce through a survey. We are required to produce employment equity statistics during federal government audits.

The York Self-Identification Survey This is a short questionnaire that takes about 2 minutes to complete. Allows all employees to confidentially disclose if they belong to one or more of the four designated groups. To accurately measure York University’s representation of designated group members at all occupational levels. Responding to the survey also gives employees the opportunity to indicate if they would like to participate in employment equity initiatives such as focus groups. It is important for all employees to complete the survey, even if they choose not to self-identify. If you decide not to self-identify, you must complete only Section F of the survey. Completing the questions in the survey is voluntary.

How To Respond To The Self-Identification Survey Responding to the survey is quick and easy. There are two ways to access the survey: –Online –Paper If you do not wish to provide your employee number on the survey, you may request a copy of the paper survey with a bar code instead. To do so, please contact: Phone: –You will need to provide your employee number and name in order to generate a bar code. Employee ID required for both formats
