Mr. Barber’s 5 th Grade Class

My Objectives 1.Ensure each student is able to demonstrate the required 5 th grade skills in Language Arts and Social Studies. 2.Strive to equip each student with the knowledge/experiences necessary to become productive contributors to society. 3.Provide support and encouragement as each student begins to acquire the necessary tools that will allow him/her to successfully transition into Middle School.

Dear Parents- Student behavior will be tracked on the previous chart. When a student breaks a rule, they will mark the chart with the corresponding number of the rule that they have broken. Feel free to check your student ’ s chart nightly. The rules are listed below. These are the behavior indicators that are listed on the quarterly report card. 1- Follows school and classroom rules. 2- Follow directions. 3- Is prepared for class. 4- Listens attentively. These are the numbers that are listed on the chart 5- Participates in class activities. 6- Works without disturbing others. 7- Completes work in assigned time. 8- Completes homework assignments. 9- Shows effort to do best work. 10- Works cooperatively with others. 11- Takes care of personal and school property. 12- Respect others and is courteous. 13- Practices self control. 14- Respects authority. For example, if the student did not bring his/her book to class, Rule 3, then they will receive a mark. Additional rules broken will result in your child moving to the next consequence. Consequences for poor choices are as follows- 1) Receive a mark 2) Time out in class. Student fills out a behavior reflection to be signed and returned. 3) Time out in another class. Parent is immediately called. 4) Office Referral. Please be aware that a pattern of 5 of the same behaviors needing improvement will be reflected on the Student Progress Report. Please take time to discuss behavior with your child. Please remember to return the signed behavior chart on Monday. Thank you for your continued support. Sincerely, Fifth Grade Teachers
