Transformations, Translation, Reflection and Rotation By: Alejandra Trevino

Today we will be learning the differences between: Transformations Translations Reflections Rotations

What is Transformation? It is the way you can change the shape or form of an object. There are 3 different types of Transformations: 1.Translation 2.Reflection 3.Rotation

Here is a link to see 3 different types of Translations.

What is a Translation? The shape of the object stays the same and slides along the graph.

For example: When Superman flies, he always has one hand up and one on his side. He is still flying from one place to another but he always looks the same.

Superman in action!

What is a Reflection? An object being mirrored from plane to plane.

An example of a reflection would be when you look at yourself in the mirror.

Reflection of a puppy.

What is a Rotation? An object that can be rotated in a certain direction.

Example: There are many examples of rotating objects. We can rotate pencils, coins and many other things.

Rotating objects!
