High School Advisory Guidance Classes

Career Curriculum Activities Encourage Students to “Research the Possibilities” These opportunities are built into every unit in most subjects, designed to create connections for students in a multidisciplinary approach.

School Activities  Career Curriculum – Middle School  Career Curriculum – High School Advisory  Naviance Implementation – Grade 7 – 12  Assemblies with Workforce Central  Interest Fair – Grade 5  Career Fair – Grade 6  College Field Trips – Grade 7 and 8  Increased Engineering and STEM opportunities – iRobot, WPI, NASA  Career and College Fair at Middle School  SCIP (Summer Career Investigation Program)  Family Workshops

Northbridge Career Academy  Students in grade 8 complete a brief, online application.  Students will choose an area of interest or an “Academy”.  Each Academy will serve as a student’s advisory group, provide an outline of recommended courses, and align with an internship and/or certification prior to graduation.

Main Goals Achieved:  Students are engaged in programming and curricula that encourage purposeful planning for the future and the development of interpersonal skills in a college and career readiness format  Students have additional opportunities to prepare for the future.  The school system is now actively engaged in numerous partnerships within the community to build relationships for the students and their future.
