What’s new in FDR and ABR… ABR data protection for z/VM and Linux on z Systems DASD Volumes –Full-volume backup and restore for CPVOL format z/VM volumes –Full-volume backup and restore for CDL format Linux on z Systems volumes. –Extends use of FDRINSTANT to VM and Linux on z volumes for point in time backup New zEDC Hardware Data Compression – z12 (and up) hardware compression saves disk and tape backup storage space – Significantly reduces CPU and elapsed time for compression – Hardware and software decompression available for disaster recovery z/OS 2.1 Style Parallel Batch Recall – recalls ARCHIVEd data sets for entire job in one pass, instead of just for one step. ABR can now coexist permanently with CA Disk or temporarily for conversion Archive now accepts expiration dates from 2028 to 2107
