Subjunctive with Conjunctions Unless, in case, as long as, in order that, without,

In English Expressions like unless, so that, and in case are conjunctions that connect two parts of the same sentence. In English, they are followed by the indicative. In Spanish, they are followed by the subjunctive.

Example I’ll take my umbrella in case it rains. Traeré mi paraguas en caso de que llueva. (llover-to rain)

In Spanish Some conjuctions must be followed by a subjunctive verb form. How do you know which ones?

Here’s how Always use the subjunctive after the following conjunctions because they express doubt or uncertainty about whether or not the events in the second part of the sentence will happen A fin de que antes de que A menos que con tal de que En caso de que para que Sin que

examples No gastes tus ahorros a menos que sea necesario. Don’t spend your savings unless it is necessary. Voy a imprimir las fotos para que todos la miren. I am going to print the photos so that everyone can look at them.
