Reducing Health Barriers: The Spirit Campaign of Greater Louisville YMCA Presented by Kristina R. Dunham National AAHPERD Conference at San Diego, CA Spring 2011

Healthy People 2010 The two overarching goals of Healthy People 2010 were: ◦ 1. Increase quality and years of life; ◦ 2. Eliminate health disparities.

Healthy People 2020 Attain high-quality, longer lives free of preventable disease, disability, injury and premature death. Achieve health equity, eliminate disparities, and improve the health of all groups. Create social and physical environments that promote good health for all. Promote quality of life, healthy development, and healthy behaviors across all life stages.

The Mission of the YMCA Healthy Actions The YMCA will be a leader in the improvement of health in our community. Anyone committed to improving health will seek the YMCA as the destination for guidance and activity. As a convener and catalyst, the YMCA will develop relationships for a healthier community. The YMCA will take a leadership role in addressing disparities that impact community health. (Taken from the website of the YMCA of Greater Louisville, ©YMCA.)
