Hepatitis B workshop on Identifying Aims, Goals, Gaps, and Priorities for a National Strategy Chronic hepatitis B and associated liver diseases, including liver cancer, represent the greatest health disparity between APIs and non-API Americans. UNITE AGAINST HBV

Aims Get all APIs tested for hepatitis B Get all APIs tested for hepatitis B Reduce the long-term complications of hepatitis B infection through appropriate follow-up and clinical management Reduce the long-term complications of hepatitis B infection through appropriate follow-up and clinical management Prevent new HBV infections Prevent new HBV infections UNITE AGAINST HBV

Top 3 short-term goals 1. Test all APIs for HBV 2. Establish standard models for hepatitis B education and management for health care providers and medical students 3. Have hepatitis B treatment covered by Medicare/Medicaid (CMS) UNITE AGAINST HBV

Top 3 long-term goals 1. Reduce the morbidity and mortality due to chronic HBV infection 2. Develop global eradication strategies 3. Simplify HBV vaccination (e.g., by developing a one-shot vaccine or shortening the vaccination schedule) UNITE AGAINST HBV
