ANCIENT EGYPT SELECTED ACTIVITIES FROM A FIFTH GRADE LESSON

TROPIC MIND ANCIENT EGYPT VIDEO We started our activity by watching a fun video about Ancient Egypt. The tropical animals in the video talked about many aspects of this fascinating civilization. While watching the video, the children had to fill in the blanks with the appropriate information.

A LITTLE BIT OF MYTHOLOGY Match the Ancient Egyptian god or goddess with his or her attribute.

THE TIME-TRAVELLING SCRIBE I am scribe from Ancient Egypt who has travelled in time and arrived in your classroom. What a wonderful way to learn first-hand about my daily life! The scribe is my teacher!!! What a difficult job if you have to study for TWELVE YEARS!

OUR PAPER DOLL PROJECT ANCIENT EGYPTIAN FASHION The aim of this project was for students to improve their vocabulary and to learn many new words related to Ancient Egyptian Fashion. This is what we did: We traced the drawing of the character and transferred it onto drawing paper.

We designed the appropriate garments and accessories for our character. We labeled the garments and the accessories with the suitable word in English.

OUR PAPER DOLLS COME TO LIFE! Look at how beautiful they look dressed with different colorful materials…

The acting game: Students are assigned a role: Parahoh, God, Scribe, River Nile, Pyramid, ect. In turns, they stand up and explain to the group what their main characteristics are. I’ m Seth. Isis’ And Osiris’ brother. I killed him and I’m the god of the War! I’m a Mummy. I’m the corpse of a dead person abter embalming. I’m a Papyrus; a specific paper for writing. I was made from the stem of a plant

I’m a Pyramid. I was a pharoh’s tomb. I’m the Pharaoh, the most powerful ruler in Egypt. I’m the Nile River. I flooded every year and my silt fertilized my banks.

THE PAPER DOLL WALL This is a recreation of an Ancient Egypt party scene happening at a fancy palace, our paper dolls enjoy themselves while showing off their gorgeous clothes and accessories.
