Summary of Changes Reduce the number of required credits for graduation from 17 to 15.5 Math: Three units or more, including Algebra I, Geometry and a math elective Lab Science: Three units or more, including biology, physical science and a science elective Move non-core subjects outlined in the current graduation requirements into one category. Option of allowing extracurricular activities to serve as partial credit for Physical Education and Fine Arts

South Dakota Virtual School A clearinghouse of distance courses offered by providers that have been approved by the South Dakota Department of Education Courses available for any MS or HS South Dakota Student (Public, Private, Home School etc) Registration for courses by school district personnel only.
SDVS Can Provide Solutions for: Students with scheduling conflicts Schools not able to find qualified staff to teach a particular course Students who want to take courses not offered in their resident district Students looking for advanced (AP) coursework Students needing credit recovery due to failure or illness Home school other non-traditional students i.e. colony Effective July, 2009 all distance courses must be provided electronically via South Dakota Virtual School
