United States Constitution right of the people to keep and bear arms It was adopted on December 15, 1791, along with the rest of the United States Bill of Rights.United States Bill of Rights

2nd Amendment Famous Court Cases United States v. Cruikshank, (1875) The US Supreme Court held that gun control regulation was a state's rights issue, and that the Second Amendment didn't apply to the states.

2nd Amendment Famous Court Cases District of Columbia v. Heller, (2008) The Supreme Court held that the Second Amendment of the Constitution protects Americans' right to bear arms as an individual liberty not specifically limited to the militia, and that the District of Columbia's requirement that guns within the home be unloaded, disassembled and locked were unconstitutional.

2nd Amendment Famous Court Cases McDonald v. City of Chicago, (2010) The Supreme Court held self-protection is a fundamental right, and incorporated the Second Amendment to the states via the Fourteenth Amendment Due Process Clause.

3 rd Amendment The Third Amendment to the United States Constitution places restrictions on the quartering of soldiers in private homes without the owner's consent, forbidding the practice in peacetime. The amendment is a response to Quartering Acts passed by the British parliament during the American Revolutionary War, which had allowed the British Army to lodge soldiers in private residences.United States ConstitutionQuartering ActsAmerican Revolutionary War

3 rd Amendment During the Colonial Period, colonists were forced to let British soldiers sleep in their homes and eat their meals. Colonists were outraged, and the more they upset the British government, the more they were punished by having soldiers forced into their homes. The writers of The Bill of Rights wanted to make sure that this could never happen again so the Third Amendment was added.
