BUILDING SELF-ESTEEM AND SELF-CONFIDENCE TAKING STEPS TO A HAPPIER MORE STRESS FREE YOU

The greatest enemy to your success in anything you do in this world is your fear of failure. Self-confident people know exactly what they can do well and they succeed because they do what they are good at, knowing they will not fail. A lack of self confidence causes missed opportunities, hesitation and lack of action. Your lack of confidence may lie in your poor level of self esteem, lack of experience or in a fear of the unknown. Confidence is gained in action and in knowing you are well prepared and have the skills and ability to do whatever it is you have to. Poor self esteem will destroy your confidence. Any successful person needs self confidence - it's vital that you work on yours! OVERVIEW EmployReward Solutions, Inc.

Self-confidence is belief in yourself and what you can do. Other words to describe self-confidence would be:  Poise  Assurance  Self-possession  Confidence  Self-assurance The opposite of self-confidence would be insecurity. What is Self-Confidence? EmployReward Solutions, Inc.

Self-esteem is the attitude you have towards yourself. How much do you like yourself and respect yourself? What do you think your worth is as a person? Other words to describe self-confidence would be:  Self-worth  Self-image  Self-respect  Self-regard  Pride What is Self-Esteem? EmployReward Solutions, Inc.

If you have self-confidence you cannot suffer from low self-esteem. Work on your self- confidence and you will build your self-esteem and vice versa. These concepts are two sides of the same coin. Self–Esteem and Self-Confidence EmployReward Solutions, Inc.

The most common problems that go hand in hand with low self- confidence are:  Being too afraid to make conversation with strangers  Anxiety/embarrassment when speaking up in a meeting or in front of groups of people  Unable to receive or accept compliments Symptoms Of Low Self-Confidence EmployReward Solutions, Inc.

 Having too much self-doubt to say "I can" rather than "I can't"  Being afraid to take risks as your lack of confidence holds you back  Letting people walk all over you rather than sticking up for yourself  Not being able to say NO! Symptoms Of Low Self-Confidence (continued) EmployReward Solutions, Inc.

 Being overly critical and f ocusing on one's perceived flaws  Apologize frequently and/or exhibit self-doubting behaviors  Need constant feedback from outside sources  Become so much of a perfectionist that basic tasks don't get finished for fear of failure. Symptoms Of Low Self-Confidence (continued) EmployReward Solutions, Inc.

Let’s measure what your current level of confidence is by taking a quiz. Pay close attention to the answer you receive on the results page. Print this page out and keep it. Retake the test in 3 months and measure your progress. QUIZ EmployReward Solutions, Inc.

 Breathe - inhale and exhale deeply until you calm yourself. Also a great stress reducer  Keep a journal – write down all your positive experiences each day. When your having a bad day go back at read it to remind yourself that you are capable of good and positive things  Have a “can do” mindset – don’t use words that stall your forward progress (“Will do” instead of “Should do”) CONFIDENCE BUILDING EXERCISES EmployReward Solutions, Inc.

 Look for a role model- learn from them. What is it they do that makes them confident, how do they act?  Focus on your achievements and learn from your mistakes  Act as if you were confident!  Prepare - for every task so that you can be sure you are ready CONFIDENCE BUILDING EXERCISES (continued) EmployReward Solutions, Inc.

 Work on any skills you need - you can never be over trained or over skilled for any challenge in life.  Learn relaxation skills  Always smile  Set reachable goals for yourself  Reward yourself when you succeed CONFIDENCE BUILDING EXERCISES (continued) EmployReward Solutions, Inc.

As you go through the process of improving your self- image and increasing your self-confidence, try to think of yourself as a separate person. Picture yourself as a stranger who is on a path toward positive change. Be sure to celebrate this person’s accomplishments! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes; learn from them. Success teaches you nothing but failure can teach you what you did wrong so you can make corrections for future success. YOU CAN BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU CAN! Conclusion EmployReward Solutions, Inc.
