My journey with Alpha Software Brief overview of my company Problem/Solution solved with developing in Alpha Software on the mac, via VMWare Overview

1991 – First Application - Alpha4 (Version 2 or 3?) 1993 – MS Access application development 1997 – Mobile Intensive Care Unit – Analyst – Designed full Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in MS Access for Paramedic Unit 2001 – Hospital Analyst & System design (mainly SQL and Departmental MS Access applications) 2006 – Started my company – Healthcare Education – – Rediscovered Alpha (AWESOME!) Clients attend our public courses – at our office We go to a clients location (i.e. Surgical Center, Nurse Practitioner’s office, Doctor’s office, Home, Office, School/University, Hospital, Clinic, etc. Primary territory NJ, NY, PA, and DE Some national clients (AZ & CA) Few International clients (Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, UK)

Students MUST : – Register (and pay) – Fully attend the program – Take appropriate Skills Test & Written Examination – Have their skills/written exam updated by one of our 80 instructors (now on web) – Complete a program evaluation Once complete–Our office issues certification Processing of Certifications

During our website development we ran into a problem!

PC/Windows Hell! PC box was becoming too unstable: – Crashing – Unresponsive programs – Slow to load programs – Blue screen of death – Unexpected behaviors – Loss of productivity – And more…

Learning a New OS – Learning Curve + Time = not efficient Obtaining same programs for Mac – Office (Outlook, Access, Excel, etc) – Alpha 5 Not all programs are designed for Mac OS (i.e. Alpha) Solution – Convert to Mac

User friendly Stable OS Intuitive (but how can Alpha run on a Mac?) Dilemma – Mac

VMware Parallels Answer: Virtual Operating System

How? -Install VMWare or parallels -Install Windows in the virtual OS -Install Alpha -Runs great -No issues Running Alpha Anywhere on a Mac
