What Caused WWI On June 28, 1914 Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria- Hungary was assassinated which caused WWI. Austria –Hungary resulting demands against the kingdom of Serbia led to the starting of WWI

 As a consequence of the global empires of many European Nations, the war soon spread worldwide.

 At the end of WWI four major imperial powers – Germany, Russia, Austria- Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire, had been militarily and politically defeated.

 The revolutionized Soviet Union, also known as Russia, emerged from the Russian Empire, while the map of Central Europe was completely redrawn into a lot of states that were smaller.
