Colombia By Tegan

Where Is Colombia? Where Is Colombia? Colombia is in the North of the South American continent. It shares borders with Venezuela, Panama, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador.

Colombian Colombian Flag Colombian The yellow stands for the sunshine and happiness, the blue stands for water, rivers and lake or sky, and the red one stands for independence. The national flag of Colombia was adopted on November 26, Colombia’s flag is made up from 3 horizontal lines, one yellow that half the size of the flag, one red and one blue that are half the of the yellow (one quarter the size of the flag).

Weather In Colombia, as it is near the equator, it is nearly always hot. I estimate that in Colombia you most likely won’t need a weather forecast, as it is always sunny. The most pleasant time to visit Colombia is in the dry season, between December and March or in July and August.

Fair Trade Fair Trade Colombia are one of the most popular fair trade countries around the world. Many foods and drinks are fair trade; chocolate, coffee, banana’s, cotton, fruit, vegetables and beauty products. Fair Trade helps a lot of people like Farmers, poor people, workers and families.

Food They Eat Food They Eat In Colombia they have different foods for different regions. In some areas you will find most Colombians eat Roasted Ants or Guinea Pigs while in other areas they wouldn’t go near those types of dishes. In Colombia they drink a lot of things we drink so it isn’t that different, the most popular drinks are fruit juice, coffee, hot chocolate, fruit eggs.

Schools Colombia schools aren’t like the schools you get here because they have much bigger classrooms than ours and they sit on tables were the chairs are connected to the tables. The chairs that they sit on are like plastic deck chairs that we would sit on in our gardens and the tables are plastic not wooden. They don’t have anything on the walls like posters and things that tell people what they have done in lessons. Colombia classrooms are very plain. This is my school.

Traditional Colombian Clothing Traditional Colombian Clothing The traditional clothing of Columbia highlights the differences between the genders. The men wear a masculine costume, often with machetes attached. The women wear the famous beautiful colourful dresses. They are often intricately embroidered on white. They wear very bold, bright colours, usually heavy cotton material. Men also wear headdresses made of bold colours. Their shirts are bright patterns.

Fascinating Facts Fascinating Facts  Colombia does not have seasons; because it is near the equator, it has sunlight throughout the year.  Experts believe that 3000 out of the spices of butterflies are found in Colombia.  Colombia produces 60% of the world's most expensive Emeralds.  The official language is Spanish, but there is another 64 still in use.  Bogotá is the capital city of Colombia. This city remains to be the largest and the most populated city in Colombia.  Colombia is nick named gate way to South America because it sits between North and South America. This is the money in Colombia
