Summary of Strategies Structured Learning Communities Lumina Grant for $975K for 3 years ( ) 3 rd Year Coaching component through “Inside Track” – Evaluation of Nashville State and Northeast State implementation Cohort-based Accelerated schedules (Fall, Spring, Summer)

Summary of Strategies Structured Learning Communities Block schedule (3 week, 7 week sessions/mini- mesters) Lock-step; same courses for entire group as they move together in the cohort Received a separate grant from AT & T for scholarships to students – Example: 10 scholarships of $1000 to NeState SLC students

Other Strategies to Enhance Completion in Tennessee Access—teaching sites every miles Dev Ed redesign: “Learning Support” Initiative – Lab-based, competency-based, mastery-based Moving Math Dev Ed/Learning Support to 16 high schools through Bridge Math course; – Complete Bridge Math, ready for College Math ($1M grant from Governor Haslam to take to most high schools in TN through Community Colleges)

Other Strategies to Enhance Completion in Tennessee Governor Haslam’s Drive to 55 – Ambitious goal to get 55% of TN citizens with higher ed completion by 2025 (currently 32%) Workforce development—engage industry in developing curriculum to meet employer needs by hosting skills gaps workshops to bring in experts in the industry to define the job entry level and what we need to be teaching our students

Other Strategies to Enhance Completion in Tennessee Complete College TN Act Business Process Review – Enhance efficiency – Customer service – Integrate standard processes & technology to make it easier for students to do business with us
