Where do we live?

Communities…States…Countries…Nations…

Our Planet Earth 5.5 billion people Most common language: Chinese Our plant and animal species are currently undergoing the greatest rate of extinction in the last 65,000,000 years.

Our Solar System has 10 planets… …numerous human made satellites and probes… and tonnes of space junk …and humans, animals and plants that occasionally leave the earth on spacecraft.

Our Solar Neighbourhood Our nearest star neighbour is Alpha Centauri - 4 light years away.

Our Local Group of stars is located in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way spiral galaxy. The Orion Arm has 1,000,000 stars. 50+ planets discovered near other stars.

The Milky Way Galaxy Our Sun is one of three hundred thousand million (300,000,000,000) stars. Numerous other life-forms are almost a certainty.

Local Group of Galaxies We live in a local cluster of about 30 galaxies. The Andromeda Galaxy is the largest in our group.

The Virgo Super Cluster Our Milky Way Galaxy is one of 2,000 galaxies in the Virgo Super Cluster. Super clusters contain between 1,000 and 10,000 galaxies … and numerous other astronomical objects … and myriad other life forms

The Universe Full of Super Clusters! Act Local Think Global Be Cosmic!
