Torquay Girls’ Grammar School TORQUAY GIRLS’ GRAMMAR SCHOOL MATHEMATICS ENTRANCE TEST SEPTEMBER 2014 YOUR NAME: ……...…………………………………………………. YOUR PRIMARY SCHOOL: ………………………………………… YOUR DATE OF BIRTH: …………………………………………. The test consists of 36 questions and has a total mark of 100. You should attempt all the questions. If you get stuck on a question leave it out and move on to the next question. Show clearly all your working. DO NOT rub out any part of your working. Marks are awarded for showing your method in some of the questions. The marks awarded for each part of a question are clearly shown. The test lasts one hour. You are not allowed to use a calculator. Please write your answers clearly in the spaces provided. If you finish early go back and check your answers.

Torquay Girls’ Grammar School Verbal Reasoning Multiple-Choice Familiarisation Test 1 Read the following carefully: 1.Do no open or turn over this booklet until you are told to do so. 2.This is a multiple-choice test, which contains a number of different types of questions. 3.Each question type starts with an explanation of what to do, usually followed by a worked example. 4.You may do any rough working on a separate sheet of paper. 5.Answers should be marked on the answer sheet provided, not on the test booklet. 6.Some questions require more than one answer to be marked (but you will be told this in the instructions for the question type). Mark your answer(s) in the column that has the same number as the test question by drawing a firm line clearly through the rectangle next to your answer, as illustrated by the worked examples. 7.If you make a mistake, rub it out as completely as you can and put in your new answer. 8.Work as carefully and quickly as you can. If you cannot do a question, do not waste time on it but go on to the next. 9.If you are not sure of an answer, choose the one you think is best. 10.You will have 50 minutes to do the test.
