Basic schools We‘ve got 9-classes basic schools in our country. You study here since 6 years old (in some cases since 5 or 7 years old) Basic school is compulsory for us

High schools We´ve got several typess of high schools: training college, high school, grammar school and lyceum Study at high schools is 3-5 years. The student receives a vocational certificate or graduation on the end of study. A graduation is needed to a college education.

Universities The most famous university in the Czech Republic is Karlova univerzita in Prague. Next well-known university is Masarykova univerzita in Brno. Except these biggest universities we have got other ones in smaller towns.

Our gymnazium Basic information We have got about 7 hours a day. Once a week, we have got afternoon lessons. We are studying in a humanities section of gymnazium, so we have got more hours of languages, history and social science than the natural science section or computer programming section. Biology, chemistry and physics we have got only twice a week. But humanities we’ve at least three times a week...

From the third year of study, we will choose several seminars and elective courses. Now, in the first year, we have got only classic subjects, such as Czech language, math, history, natural sciences, English and another language. We had a choice of three others languages – German, Russian and French. I chose French. From the second year of study we will have Latin.

Catering We have a school cafeteria in our school We can choose between 3 main meals for lunch. One is vegetarian, one with meat and one special. For sandwiches we have got a snack bar.

School and after school activities We have the opportunity to attend some activities, organized by the school – drama club, microscopy club, aquarium club… But most of us has other interests – sports, games, etc.
